Flight 93 National Memorial
Dear Friends:
On behalf of the Flight 93 National Memorial, it is a great privilege to join with the Pentagon Memorial Fund and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in welcoming you to "A Call to Compassion."
Ten years ago, as they stepped aboard their plane, the 40 passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 could not have known that they would end their lives that day as heroes—men and women who would prevent an unthinkable attack on the U.S. Capitol. Because of their determined actions, the common field where they crashed has become a field of honor forever.
It is a privilege to remember those whose lives were affected on September 11th at the National Cathedral. This is a poignant setting for honoring those lives lost, but also for advancing the healing that compassion brings.
As we dedicate the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, we will be with you in spirit. The commemorations at the National Cathedral remind us that whether in a grassy field in Shanksville or in the grandeur of the nation’s cathedral, we are united in a desire to remember and honor.
Sincerely,
